Continuation of Shout ( 2010 - 13 )
As described at the end of Call Out 13 a Pan Pan call was heard on the Lifeboat Radio, it was from a yacht who had previously been assisting with the vessel aground on Farland Point and after the Lifeboat arrived and had escorted the vessels back to Millport had decided to return to their mooring in Millport Bay, whilst the owners were motoring back to their mooring the engine on the yacht died. As the yacht was being pushed onto a small group of Islands called The Eileans put out a Pan Pan call.
Largs Lifeboat arrived within a minute and then promptly put a crewmember on the yacht who then secured the Lifeboats towline to the Yacht which was then subsequently towed back to its mooring.
The yacht was then made secure and as the owners were happy to make their own way ashore the Lifeboat returned to the Lifeboat Station and was made ready for its next service call. |

Largs Lifeboat requested to launch by Clyde Coastguard after they received a report of a yacht being blown onto the shore at the Pencil Monument Largs.
Once onscene and it had been agreed that the tow would be at the owners risk the Lifeboat put a tow line onto the bow of the vessel. .
At this point 1 person from a Largs Sailing Club rib went onto the yacht and cut the yachts anchor line and heeled the yacht over so the Lifeboat could try and tow the yacht into deeper water, unfortunately this did not work as the yacht was firmly aground. .
The tow-line was transferred to the stern of the yacht and a further attempt was made to free it, this again did not work, the Helmsman of the Lifeboat then decided that due to the weather conditions and the dropping tide the best option was to remove the 4 occupants onto the Lifeboat and transfer them back to largs Yacht Haven.
Once the 4 people were dropped at the Yacht Have Largs lifeboat returned to station and was made ready for the next service call.
