Largs Lifeboat Launched at 13:30 on 02/03/09 ( Self Launch )
While the crew were completing a clean up of the Lifeboat station due to our upcoming 5 Year review a member of the public came in saying that he had spotted a group of 3 Laser Dinghies sailing around the North End of great Cumbrae, As he was watching a squall blew over the dinghies and during this one of them was dismasted, he noticed that the dinghy was in a bit of trouble so he came into the boathouse and explained what he had seen.
Due to the weather conditions at the time the Lifeboat Operations Manager ( LOM ) decided to launch the lifeboat to go and assist the dinghy. Once on scene the lifeboat crew helped the sailor remove the mast and sail and towed the dinghy to Cumbrae Watersports Centre, the lifeboat then returned to station was washed down again and left in a respectable condition for the review. |
